Random dial guage

If you read the servo dial guage page, in the Arduino section, you'll have seen just how nice a mechanical dial guage can look in your projects. However, why not also recreate that look for use in your computer programs too? Instead of just a number on your webpage, you could just as easily represent that number with a nice pointer that turns smoothly between values.

The example on this page does just that, drawing a simple dial that turns to display a value. It starts with a value equivalent to the centre of the dial range, but that changes at random intervals to a new random value. However, instead of just jumping from one value to another, the pointer heads toward the random value at a predefined speed. That makes the dial look much more natural.
